Amal Clooney may enjoy entertaining her friends at home, but don’t expect to see any behind-the-scenes pics of the fun on social media.
The human rights lawyer, 47, opened up about the measures she takes to protect her family’s privacy during a conversation with beauty mogul Charlotte Tilbury published in Glamour.
The mom of two revealed she makes it a rule to ask guests to hand over their smartphones when they visit the home she and her husband, George Clooney, share with their 8-year-old twins, Ella and Alexander.
“Creating private moments and spaces is becoming increasingly difficult. But thatโs also why we entertain a lot at home. I now have a phone basket that I use to take everyoneโs phones away!โ she said.
“Itโs important to get that balance where you have time alone with your family and with your friends where people feel like you can have a safe and frank exchange,” she added. “And I would say becoming a parent means youโre more troubled by some of the intrusions.”
Keeping Ella and Alexander out of the spotlight continues to be a top priority for her and her Oscar-winning husband, she said.
“So we do the best we can to minimize any impact on our children,” she said. “We donโt put our children out there, weโve never put their photo out there or anything like that.”
Earlier this year, George Clooney revealed that Ella and Alexander love pop culture as much as any kids their age.
“They want to see Taylor Swift,โ the actor told E! News during a red carpet interview at the Tony Awards in New York. “The funniest part is that they have no idea of references. Robert DeNiro will be at the house and theyโre like โWhoโs that?โ They donโt care.โ
He added that his kids were big fans of the movie “Wicked,” noting, โTheyโre looking forward to the second part.โ
The actor, who was nominated for a best actor award for his lead role in the Broadway play โGood Night, and Good Luck,โ also told the outlet how grateful he was for his wifeโs support.
โI have this incredible partner who I couldnโt be more proud of,โ he said. โSheโs the bravest human being Iโve ever met in my life. I am deeply proud of her and the fact that sheโs in any way proud of me, if just, I canโt believe how lucky I am.โ
