Buckle up, weโre heading back to Albuquerque. But this time, weโre leaving the blue crystals behind.
“Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul” creator Vince Gilligan is launching a brand new sci-fi drama called “Pluribus.”
The show, starring Rhea Seehorn, already been picked up for two seasons by Apple TV+.
Hereโs everything we know so far about the highly anticipated series, including plot details, confirmed cast and when we might finally get to watch it.
What is Vince Gilliganโs New Show About?
While Apple TV+ is keeping tight-lipped about the exact plot, Gilligan has teased that this show is a psychological sci-fi drama set in a reimagined version of modern-day Albuquerque, where the world shifts drastically in the very first episode. The show wonโt revisit cartels or criminal empires, but itโs still designed to mess with your mind (in the best way).
Gilligan told Deadline the series will โbend realityโ by exploring human nature through a character-driven, philosophical lens, likening the tone to “The Twilight Zone.” Expect a world that feels familiar but isnโt quite right.
And though it avoids the crime underbelly that defined his earlier work, longtime fans can still expect Gilliganโs signature touches: moral tension, complex characters and flashes of dark, unexpected humor.
This time, though, the angle is more hopeful. โAfter 15 years of antiheroes,โ Gilligan said, โI figured it was time to write something about someone trying to be good.โ
Who Is in Vince Gilliganโs New Show?
Right now, Rhea Seehorn is the confirmed lead. The Emmy-nominated actor, best known for her breakout role as Kim Wexler in “Better Call Saul,” is joined by Karolina Wydra, who will play Ana, a character described as optimistic (though knowing Gilligan, we can expect that might not last long).
Seehorn recently shared her excitement about the project with Deadline, saying, โIt really swings for the fences. I had so much fun.โ
โSome of the stuff that audiences have loved about (Gilliganโs) writing: really rich characters, playing with tropes and genres, injecting humor into very dark moments. In this new show, he pushes that to a limit that was both very thought-provoking and upsetting sometimes, and other times, so, so funny,โ she added.
In another interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she revealed that Gilligan wrote the role specifically for her โ and that itโs โextremely unlike anything Iโve ever done before.โ The character, described as a โdamaged but well-intentioned hero,โ offers a departure from her past work.
Additional casting details are still under wraps, but the project is already reuniting Gilligan with several of his longtime collaborators both on and off screen. More familiar faces could still be on the way โ and fans are definitely watching closely.
Is There a Trailer?
Yes, and itโs as weird and wonderful as fans might hope.
The first teaser for “Pluribus,” released on July 25, 2025, opens with a woman (not Seehorn) slowly licking donuts in what appears to be an office or factory setting.
The camera then pans to a sign that reads โHelp Yourself,โ signed with a hand-drawn smiley face before revealing the showโs title.
The smiley face has been part of the show’s ads before. On July 22, streamer shared a cryptic post on X featuring a petri dish with an eerie smile, captioned โHappiness is Contagious.โ
Combined with the teaserโs surreal tone, fans are already speculating that this unsettling smile may be central to the showโs mystery.
When Does ‘Pluribus’ Come Out?
โPluribusโ will officially premiere November 7, 2025 on Apple TV+.
