Buckle up, we’re heading back to Albuquerque. But this time, we’re leaving the blue crystals behind.
“Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul” creator Vince Gilligan is launching a brand new sci-fi drama called “Pluribus.”
The show, starring Rhea Seehorn, already been picked up for two seasons by Apple TV+.
Here’s everything we know so far about the highly anticipated series, including plot details, confirmed cast and when we might finally get to watch it.
What is Vince Gilligan’s New Show About?
While Apple TV+ is keeping tight-lipped about the exact plot, Gilligan has teased that this show is a psychological sci-fi drama set in a reimagined version of modern-day Albuquerque, where the world shifts drastically in the very first episode. The show won’t revisit cartels or criminal empires, but it’s still designed to mess with your mind (in the best way).
Gilligan told Deadline the series will “bend reality” by exploring human nature through a character-driven, philosophical lens, likening the tone to “The Twilight Zone.” Expect a world that feels familiar but isn’t quite right.
And though it avoids the crime underbelly that defined his earlier work, longtime fans can still expect Gilligan’s signature touches: moral tension, complex characters and flashes of dark, unexpected humor.
This time, though, the angle is more hopeful. “After 15 years of antiheroes,” Gilligan said, “I figured it was time to write something about someone trying to be good.”
Who Is in Vince Gilligan’s New Show?
Right now, Rhea Seehorn is the confirmed lead. The Emmy-nominated actor, best known for her breakout role as Kim Wexler in “Better Call Saul,” is joined by Karolina Wydra, who will play Ana, a character described as optimistic (though knowing Gilligan, we can expect that might not last long).
Seehorn recently shared her excitement about the project with Deadline, saying, “It really swings for the fences. I had so much fun.”
“Some of the stuff that audiences have loved about (Gilligan’s) writing: really rich characters, playing with tropes and genres, injecting humor into very dark moments. In this new show, he pushes that to a limit that was both very thought-provoking and upsetting sometimes, and other times, so, so funny,” she added.
In another interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she revealed that Gilligan wrote the role specifically for her — and that it’s “extremely unlike anything I’ve ever done before.” The character, described as a “damaged but well-intentioned hero,” offers a departure from her past work.
Additional casting details are still under wraps, but the project is already reuniting Gilligan with several of his longtime collaborators both on and off screen. More familiar faces could still be on the way — and fans are definitely watching closely.
Is There a Trailer?
Yes, and it’s as weird and wonderful as fans might hope.
The first teaser for “Pluribus,” released on July 25, 2025, opens with a woman (not Seehorn) slowly licking donuts in what appears to be an office or factory setting.
The camera then pans to a sign that reads “Help Yourself,” signed with a hand-drawn smiley face before revealing the show’s title.
The smiley face has been part of the show’s ads before. On July 22, streamer shared a cryptic post on X featuring a petri dish with an eerie smile, captioned “Happiness is Contagious.”
Combined with the teaser’s surreal tone, fans are already speculating that this unsettling smile may be central to the show’s mystery.
When Does ‘Pluribus’ Come Out?
‘Pluribus’ will officially premiere November 7, 2025 on Apple TV+.
