โGinny & Georgiaโ fans have been waiting more than a year to find out if Georgia will end up in prison after her latest run-in with the law. Now, with Season 3 set to premiere June 5 on Netflix with 10 new episodes, theyโll soon get the answers theyโve been craving.
Need to a recap before diving into Season 3? Weโre revisiting the major highlights below. Hereโs what to remember from โGinny & Georgiaโ Season 2.
Paul Moves In to Georgiaโs House
With their relationship progressing and wedding plans underway, Georgia (Brianne Howey) and Paul (Scott Porter) move in together. It isnโt all sunshine and roses, though.
Paul quickly grows frustrated with Georgiaโs fierce independence when it comes to parenting her children. After all, he loves Ginny (Antonia Gentry) and Austin (Diesel La Torraca) and wants to play a role in their lives.
Paul also discovers one of Georgiaโs guns and emphasizes how much he wishes she didnโt have one in the house.
Over time, Georgia opens up more to Paul, even if she didnโt originally plan to (more on that later).
Austinโs Father Gets Out of Jail and Shows Up
Gil (Aaron Ashmore), Austinโs father and Georgiaโs abusive ex, gets released from jail in Season 2 and causes chaos when he shows up to town. Heโs pretty annoyed that Georgia framed him for embezzlement and heโs determined to make her life miserable.
Gil tries to blackmail Georgia into getting money for him from Paul, whose family is wealthy, and promises not to tell Paul some of her seedy secrets in return.
Gilโs violent tendencies are seen in the past via flashback scenes and also in the present, when he threatens Georgia in her own kitchen and gets physical. Austin sees his father hurting his mother and grabs his motherโs gun and shoots him. Gil only sustains a minor wound.
Georgia covers up the mess but later fesses up to Paul about the incident, along with several of the secrets from her past, and he gets his lawyer involved. He tells Gil he no longer has leverage against Georgia since she told him everything (well, almost) and says he needs to go through him to contact Georgia or Austin.
Georgia Tells Ginny She Killed Her First Husband
Heading into Season 2, Ginny already knew that Georgia killed her ex-husband Kenny. During the second season, the mother of two also opens up to her daughter about one of her deepest, darkest secrets: The murder of her first husband.
Ginny reveals that she killed him by mistake back when Ginny was a baby. As it turns out, she was just trying to make him sleep for a few hours but messed up the dosage of whatever concoction she made him and he ended up dying.
Cynthia and Joe Formed a Deeper Connection
Cynthia (Sabrina Grdevich) is having a hard time watching her husband, who is in hospice and unconscious, slowly slip away at home. She finds comfort talking to Joe (Raymond Ablack) and before they know it, theyโre ripping each otherโs clothes off one night after forming a close connection.
Cynthia regrets betraying her husband but still wants to be Joeโs friend. She also picks up on his crush on Georgia.
Ginny and Marcus Break Up
Marcus (Felix Mallard) and Ginnyโs relationship has been flourishing ever since they finally made things official. But like all teenage romances, itโs bound to encounter a few bumps along the way.
For instance, Marcus suddenly starts drinking more and shows up to school drunk one day. Meanwhile, heโs been exhibiting symptoms of depression, causing his family (and Ginny) to be concerned about his well-being.
While talking with his twin sister, Max (Sara Waisglass), Marcus says Ginny is the only thing that makes him happy right now, but he realizes that one person canโt be responsible for anotherโs happiness. He questions if he should be in a relationship, and Ginny overhears without catching the context of the conversation.
While attending a school play, Ginny and Marcus get into a fight and she asks if he wants to be with her. After going back and forth, Marcus acknowledges that he doesnโt have room for anyone elseโs pain except his own right now.
Ginny later learns that Marcus is struggling emotionally and vows to support him, even if theyโre not romantically involved anymore.
Love Blossoms for Several of Ginnyโs Friends
Ginny and Marcusโ relationship isnโt the only high school romance during Season 2. Ginnyโs friend Bracia (Tameka Griffiths) has a crush on one of her co-stars from the school play and works up the courage to ask him out. He tells her sheโs the reason he did the play since he also has a crush on her.
Sparks also fly between Max and a girl named Silver (Katelyn Wells) who has been responsible for the playโs wardrobe when they share a kiss after the play. Maxโs former flame Sophie (Humberly Gonzรกlez) then asks if she wants to get together to talk and address some unresolved business.
While they meet, Max says she canโt be Sophieโs friend because she just started getting over her.
Georgia Kills Cynthia’s Husband
Though Cynthia and Georgia have a complicated, frenemy type of relationship, they band together for various reasons in Season 2. When Cynthia sees Gil harassing Georgia, Cynthia makes sure he wonโt get an apartment in town by blacklisting his rental application.
As Georgia and Cynthiaโs sons have become close friends, Georgia has witnessed how brokenhearted and exhausted Cynthia is caring for her husband in hospice. Georgia eventually does what she considers an act of mercy: Georgia smothers Cynthiaโs husband with a pillow, killing him. Unbeknownst to Georgia, Austin is hiding in a closet in the room and sees the whole thing.
Georgia Marries Paul โ Then Gets Arrested
Georgia and Paulโs romantic wedding gets interrupted during the season finale.
While theyโre dancing in front of their guests, Cordova (Alex Mallari Jr.) arrives with the police, who are prepared to arrest Georgia for killing Cynthiaโs husband.
