Will the games brutally continue or come to an end?
The third and final season of the fan-favorite Korean drama “Squid Game” will premiere this week, picking up right where Season 2 ended.
Season 3, which consists of six episodes, will follow Player 456, Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), after he and his friends attempted to infiltrate the control room and start a rebellion. After seeing his best friend Jung-bae (Lee Seo-hwan) get killed in front of him, and being unknowingly tricked by The Front Man (Lee Byung-hun) who was hiding his true identity to infiltrate the game, the competition persists.
Gi-hun will do anything he can to end the games, as other surviving players put their lives at risk for the billion-dollar prize.

Writer/director Hwang Dong-hyuk teased a darker third season, once again testing people’s wants and desires.
“In the case of Season 3, I wanted to introduce games that could really show the lowest bottom of human beings, because the series itself is reaching its climax,” Hwang told Entertainment Weekly. “I wanted very intense games to bring out the bottom parts of human nature.”
He said “Season 3 is indeed a finale” that will deliver an inspiring message by focusing on how people “preserve their humanity amidst this intense competition in this capitalistic era.”
Among other anticipated moments include a pregnant Jun-hee (Jo Yu-ri). Hwang also noted that her baby will play “a very important role” for everyone this final season.
