How does ‘Building the Band’ work?
Speaking to TODAY.com, McLean broke down the premise of “Building the Band.”
“How it works is all of our contestants are sequestered in their individual pods, and they are the ones in control of putting a band together of either three, four or five (artists),” he explains.
“But the twist is they don’t actually see each other from the jump.”
The singers wear headphones in their pods and hear other contestants perform. If they like what they hear, they will push their button to request to talk to them and see if they’re a good fit for their band.
The singers will then put their groups together based on their vocals, chemistry, conversation and compatibility. When they finalize their members, they hit the button in their pod to confirm their group.
“There (are) going to be some twists during the show. I can’t say what they are, but it was a really cool thing,” McLean adds. “It’s unlike any other show out there.”
