It’s byelection day in the Centre-du-QuĆ©bec riding of Arthabaska. Voters there will elect a new MNA, months after the Coalition Avenir QuĆ©bec’s Eric Lefebvre quit provincial politics to run for the Conservative Party of Canada.
Polls will be open from 9:30 a.m. until 8 p.m.
Voters in the Centre-du QuĆ©bec riding of ArthabaskaĀ are poised to elect a new MNA in a byelection on Monday.
Polls will be open from 9:30 a.m. until 8 p.m.
The Coalition Avenir QuĆ©becĀ (CAQ) will attempt to hold on to the riding while Quebec Conservative Party Leader Ɖric Duhaime will try to win a seat in the National Assembly.Ā
Here are the candidates for the main parties:
- Kevin Brasseur (CAQ).
- Alex Boissonneault (Parti QuƩbƩcois).
- Chantale Marchand (Quebec Liberal Party).
- Pascale Fortin (QuƩbec Solidaire).
- Ɖric Duhaime (Quebec Conservative Party).
The byelection was triggered in March when CAQ MNA Eric Lefebvre left provincial politics. He has since won theĀ federal seat of Richmondā€”Arthabaska for the Conservative Party of Canada.Ā
The Arthabaska riding is known for having voter turnouts that are higher than the rest of the province.
In the 2022 Quebec election, the voter turnout in the province was 66 per cent. In Arthabaska, it was 74 per cent.
The riding’s voter turnout during this month’sĀ advanced polling was 26.17 per cent.Ā
