Royal Chef Shares Recipe For Princess Diana’s Favorite Breakfast

Princess Diana was known for her impeccable taste โ€” and that extended to her breakfast choices, too. Now, her former chef is sharing the morning meal that suited her palate and proves once again she was ahead of the curve: overnight oats.

In a June 27 YouTube video, former royal chef Darren McGrady, who cooked for the late Princess Diana at Kensington Palace, revealed that the royal preferred overnight oats, a dish she ate almost every day.

McGradyโ€™s video, titled โ€œPrincess Dianaโ€™s Overnight Oats,โ€ shows him in a professional kitchen preparing the dish as he once did for the princess.

In the video, McGrady explains how the dish reflected the royalโ€™s interest in health and wellness.

“She was working out at the gym three days a week, and just looking the best she ever did,” he explained, noting that she had overnight oats almost 20 years before it became a social media craze.

According to McGrady, Diana came to learn about the dish while visiting a Swiss health clinic.

โ€œThere she had these overnight oats โ€” they were actually called Birchermรผesli โ€” and they were invented by a Swiss nutritionist,โ€ he explains.

“She thought they were really, really good, and all the ingredients were super healthy. She stole the recipe, came back and said, ‘Dan, I want these for breakfast every day.'”

Below is the exact overnight oats recipe McGrady says he prepared for Princess Diana.
