Talk about mixing business with pleasure.
โThe Masked Singerโ judge Rita Ora was stunned when her husband Taika Waititi revealed himself as Lucky Duck on the April 30 episode of the Fox show.
โAre you kidding me?โ a shocked Ora said, as the audience, along with fellow judges Robin Thicke, Ken Jeong and Jenny McCarthy, went wild after the director and Oscar-winning screenwriter took off his mask.
โI hate you!โ she playfully added, as confetti fell down over the stage.
She then trotted over to stand by the โJojo Rabbitโ director.
โI thought you were the most annoying thing on this whole show,โ she said, as he picked her up and they kissed. โI love you so much.โ
Lucky Duck has been a presence on โThe Masked Singerโ this season, with Fox teasing the characterโs role.
โLucky Duck will pop in throughout the season to offer cheeky and luck-related clues, and there could be a very special connection to someone on the show,โ the network said in a statement.
Ora also said her hubby has long desired to be a musician.
โBy the way, this is kind of your dream come true. Youโve always wanted to be a pop star. This is your moment,โ she said.
“This is it. This is as close as I’m getting,” quipped Waititi in response.
Host Nick Cannon then asked what many people may have been wondering: How did Waititi keep his appearance on the show a secret?
โThe main reason I wanted to do this is because itโs the only way I was going to see my wife โcause you guys got her working so hard I never see her. How I kept it a secret, sheโs always here, so it was easy,โ he said.
Ora said Waititi had a personal reason for appearing on the show.
โAlso, his kids love the show so much, so this is awesome,โ she said.
Fans of โThe Masked Singerโ can see if any further surprises are in store when the season finale airs May 7 at 8 p.m. ET.
