Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock are already getting into witchy high jinks on the set of “Practical Magic 2.”
The Oscar winners have reunited for the sequel, reprising their roles as sisters Sally and Gillian Owens, descendants of a long line of powerful witches. The film is set to hit theaters Sept. 18, 2026.
On July 18, Kidman shared an Instagram video of her and Bullock laughing and embracing on the film’s set. The pair wore dresses and appeared to be standing among gravestones in what looked to be a cemetery.
The two actors shushed each other as a crew member announced that cameras were “still rolling.” Someone else on the set then called out, “Let’s go again.”
Kidman captioned her clip, “The witches are back. Owens sisters’ first day on set! #PracticalMagic” and added stars emoji.
Fans of the original movie couldn’t hide their excitement about seeing Kidman and Bullock team up again.
“AAAAAAAA. I SCREAMED! What a fantasy. I can’t wait to see this,” wrote one.
“OMG! They’re back! I can’t wait to watch this,” added someone else.
“Practical Magic” also starred Dianne Wiest, Stockard Channing, Aidan Quinn and Goran Visnjic. It was released in theaters in 1998.
The movie, based on Alic Hoffman’s 1995 novel of the same name, followed as Sally (Bullock) and Gillian (Kidman) use the magic skills they learned growing up with their aunts to squash the evil spirit of Gillian’s ex-boyfriend (Visnjic) who is out to get them.
Warner Bros. Pictures announced on June 10, 2024 that a sequel to the movie was in the works. Days later, Kidman confirmed that she and Bullock would reprise their roles.
“Yes, I will be in it. And Sandy (Bullock) will be in it. And that’s that. There’s a lot more to tell which is why we go, ‘OK, this is kind of interesting now to be able to do this,’” Kidman told People.
Earlier this month, the studio confirmed that Wiest and Channing would return as Aunt Jet and Aunt Franny, respectively.
Joey King, Maisie Williams, Lee Pace, Xolo Maridueña and Solly McLeod have also joined the movie’s cast.
