Nicolas Cage and Sarah Jessica Parker are setting the record straight on a longtime rumor that they explored a romantic connection at one point.
On the July 13 episode of “Watch What Happens Live,” Parker confirmed a decades-old rumor that she used to date the “Face/Off” actor.
Host Andy Cohen asked her, point blank, “Did you date Nic Cage?”
โYes, I did,” she replied.
Cohen seemed surprised by her response, saying, “Oh, wow. We got some talking to do.”
Following her remarks, E! News asked Cage about his relationship with the “Sex and the City” star in a July 14 story. He said they indeed dated but fell out of touch after a fateful meeting at the Russian Tea Room with Parker’s mother.
โI cared about Sarah, but I donโt think I passed the Mom test,โ he said in a statement. โI recall sitting down with her and her mother for dinner at the Russian Tea Room, and I donโt know if it was my blue Vanson Leather motorcycle jacket (which I still have) or my sinusitis, but I didnโt hear from her again.โ
The two actors co-starred in the 1992 rom-com “Honeymoon in Vegas.”
Parker married her husband, Matthew Broderick, in 1997. The couple share three kids: son James, 22, and 16-year-old twin daughters, Marion and Tabitha.
The “National Treasure” actor was is married to Riko Shibata, whom he wedded in 2021. He was previously married to Patricia Arquette, Lisa Marie Presley, Alice Kim and Erika Koike.
On “Watch What Happens Live,” Parker talked about her relationship with Broderick and said she knew he was the one very “early” into dating.
“I knew he was incredible, just (by) spending a bit of time with him,” she said.
“I remember I had to leave to go on location to shoot a movie, and we were on East 10th Street, and I was getting in a car to go away for a while, and I remember thinking, I love him, and should I say it? Because neither one of us had said it,” she added.
Parker said she told Broderick “I love you” first, and he shared the same sentiment right back.
“Nothing to lose!” she said.
