Meghan Trainor recently showed off a new look on social media while participating in a TikTok challenge.
Trainor attempted the Nicki Minaj challenge in a new video. The singer modified her version of the trend, wearing white sneakers rather than stiletto heels, paired with a matching black and white striped mini dress.
Her new hairstyle featured dramatic bangs and a long, high ponytail to complete the look as she posed on one leg on top of two stacked dumbbells.
“Never again,” Trainor captioned the video.
In the comment section, fans seemed surprised by the singer’s appearance, with a few users commenting they did not “recognize” Trainor.
“So it’s not about the bass anymore,” another TikTok user added.
“I thought this was Paris Hilton,” one person wrote, while another added, “I thought i was seeing Ariana grande but a bit off.”
One user wrote, “Literally became what she sang about not being…”
Other fans came to the defense of the singer in the comment section, with one TikTok user writing, “We’re allowed to change and still be supportive of not talking about other people’s bodies and empowerment. Move on.”
“Why can’t we just be happy for people?” another fan wrote. “You go Megan trainor!!!”
Trainor later shared another video on TikTok donning the same outfit as she lip-synched to Megan the Stallion’s song “Her.” She mouthed along to the words, which included the lyrics, “I don’t care if these b—–s don’t like me, ‘cause like, I’m pretty as f—.”
“Glam team really did that,” Trainor captioned the video.
Trainor has been candid about her health and her weight loss over the years, including her struggles with confidence.
Speaking to USA Today in March, the singer explained, “Every time I get asked about, like, ‘How are you so confident?’ I’m like, ‘Oh, I’m not.’ Writing these songs is just my therapy for trying to love myself more.”
Trainor also shared that she’s worked on her confidence and self-love for her two sons, Riley and Barry, explaining, “I don’t want them to hear me ever being mean to my body because I don’t want them to do that to themselves.”
That same month, she also responded to recent comments and questions about her body in a March Instagram post after an award at the Billboard Women in Music event.
“Feeling so honored to be recognized by @billboard Women in Music as a Hitmaker—what a dream!” she wrote in the caption. “But it’s a little disheartening that so many of the questions (and comments) were focused on my body instead of my music, my passion, or the decade of hard work that got me here. This is what it’s like to be a woman in the music industry.”
Trainor addressed that she looks different than she did when she started her career a decade prior, writing, “I’ve been on a journey to be the healthiest, strongest version of myself for my kids and for me.”
The singer said that she works with a dietician, made “huge lifestyle changes,” began working with a trainer and started to use Mounjaro after her second pregnancy.
“And I’m so glad I did because I feel great,” she added. “Here’s to celebrating talent, growth, and the power of putting yourself first. Let’s keep shifting the convo to what REALLY matters.”
