Machine Gun Kelly Reveals the 1 Reason Why He Wouldn’t Audition for ‘Sinners’

Machine Gun Kelly says he was “supposed to be” in Ryan Coogler’s hit horror film “Sinners.”

While appearing on “The Pat McAfee Show” on July 31, the “Bad Things” rapper revealed he given a chance to audition for a role in the film.

“Like ‘Sinners,’ I was supposed to be in that,” he said before sharing which role he was supposed to audition for and why he didn’t feel comfortable portraying that specific character.

“They had me set up to do the audition. It’s the vampire, the one that’s in the house, so he’s the second vampire, the one that the guy comes and he eats the family,” he said, seemingly referring to the character of Bert (Peter Dreimanis), a Klan member who is turned into a vampire by Remmick (Jack O’Connell).

Kelly continued, explaining why the role wasn’t a good fit. “In the audition, he has to say the ‘n-word’ and I wouldn’t do it.”

TODAY.com reached out to Warner Bros. and a rep for Coogler for comment but did hear back.

Earlier in the interview, Kelly talked about his career ambitions and his hope to star in more movies.

“I have a lot of aspirations to be in movies, it just hasn’t panned out that way. I’m on universal timing though so we’ll see,” he said.

When asked what “universal timing” means, Kelly explained that he’s waiting on “angels” to put “something in the works” for him. The rapper later joked that he hopes those opportunities come sooner than later while he’s still looks ”young.”

“I would really like to be recruited into a movie while I still got some looks,” he quipped.

“Sinners,” starring Michael B. Jordan, Miles Caton and Saul Williams, tells the story of a pair of twin brothers who encounter a great evil when they move back to their hometown in Mississippi.

The horror film, which was released in April, ruled the box office opening weekend and earned $48 million domestically and $63 million globally, per Variety.

Though Kelly turned down a chance to audition for “Sinners,” he has appeared in other Hollywood movies, such as 2019’s “Captive State” and “The Dirt,” where he played famous Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee.
