The 4,400-seat venue will host national headliners, global touring acts and comedy shows.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Tepper Sports & Entertainment and Live Nation announced plans Thursday to build a privately funded entertainment venue adjacent to Bank of America Stadium in Uptown Charlotte.
The 4,400-capacity indoor venue will host national headliners, global touring acts and comedy shows, filling what organizers described as a gap between the city’s intimate clubs and large arenas. The announcement comes a little over a week after Charlotte leaders discussed the project.
Construction is expected to align with the stadium renovation timeline, with the venue designed to transform the corridor into a weekend destination district while generating significant economic impact for the Charlotte region.
“This new venue is a vibrant addition to Charlotte’s growing music scene and a strong complement to Bank of America Stadium,” Kristi Coleman, chief executive officer of Tepper Sports & Entertainment, said. “With Live Nation’s deep industry insight, the venue is set to bring in the kinds of shows and live experiences that expand Charlotte’s entertainment offerings, contribute to economic growth and transform this corridor into a weekend destination district.”
Venue aims to fill capacity gap
The new facility will bridge the gap between Charlotte’s smaller music clubs and larger venues such as arenas and amphitheaters, providing a mid-sized option for touring artists and performers.
Grant Lyman, president of Live Nation Southeast, said the venue addresses a need in Charlotte’s entertainment infrastructure.
“Live music is at its best when artists and fans have the right space to connect, and this new venue fills a gap in Charlotte’s music scene,” Lyman said. “It will bring fans closer to the artists they love, energize Uptown and strengthen Charlotte’s reputation as one of the country’s great music cities.”
The state-of-the-art facility will be conveniently located for visitors exploring the city, serving as an attraction for both out-of-town guests and local residents.
Focus on fan experience, artist support
Blueprint Studio, Live Nation’s in-house design and development group, is leading the project. The venue will prioritize the fan experience with clear sightlines throughout the facility, premium seating options with exclusive lounges and chef-driven menus.
The venue is estimated to attract more than 250,000 fans annually, according to projections from TSE and Live Nation. Visitors from outside the Charlotte metro area alone are expected to generate $37.9 million in economic impact.
Out-of-town visitors are projected to spend $21.2 million yearly on restaurants, hotels and entertainment in the Charlotte area. This spending is expected to generate $3.4 million in state and local tax revenue and support nearly 300 jobs.
