โ24โ star Kiefer Sutherland was arrested early Monday after an alleged physical altercation with a Hollywood ride-share driver, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Authorities said that around 12:15 a.m., the LAPD responded to a call about an assault involving a rideshare driver near Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue. Officers concluded that the suspect, identified as Sutherland, entered a rideshare vehicle, allegedly assaulted the driver and made criminal threats toward them. The victim sustained no injuries that required immediate medical attention. Sutherland was arrested for making criminal threats toward the victim, in violation of California Penal Code section 422. Detectives from the Hollywood Division are currently investigating the incident.
Sutherlandโs reps did not immediately respond to Varietyโs request for comment.
Sutherland was bailed out on a $50,000 bond late Monday morning. His initial court date is set for Feb. 2.
Sutherland, son of Shirley Douglas and the late actor Donald Sutherland, broke into Hollywood starring in Rob Reinerโs 1986 coming-of-age drama โStand By Me,โ and Joel Schumacherโs 1987 subversive teen horror โThe Lost Boys.โ Some of his other early works include โCrazy Moon,โ โBright Lights, Big City,โ โFlashback,โ โThe Flatliners,โ โTwin Peaks: Fire Walk with Meโ and โA Few Good Men.โ
Sutherland is probably best known for playing counterterrorism agent Jack Bauer across eight seasons of the Fox thriller series โ24.โ It won 20 Emmys during its run, including two acting prizes for Sutherland. In 2012, the show was rebooted into 12 episode mini series, โ24: Live Another Day.โ
His recent credits include films like โTinsel Town,โ โStone Cold Fox,โ โJuror #2โ and โThey Cloned Tyrone.โ
