Kendra Wilkinson is reacting to harsh comments she has recently received about her body on social media.ย
On Jan. 12, the mom of two penned a lengthy response on Instagram to critics who have left unkind messages beneath her posts.ย
โYes, Iโve gained weight. Yes, im aging. Yes, Iโm not that girl i was before (playboy girl),โ the former reality television star wrote and added a crying-laughing emoji.ย
She continued, โBut for once in a long time I feel good and mentally healthy.โ
Wilkinson said she is currently focused on raising her two children โ Hank Randall Baskett IV, 15, and Alijah Mary Baskett, 10 โ whom she shares with ex-husband Hank Baskett, and creating a balanced life.ย ย
The real estate agent and author, who has taken a step back from the spotlight, shared that her days now consist of working out, cooking, golf, work and tending to her home, without a housekeeper nanny.ย
She added, โFor those of you hating on my new weight, 40 yr old face please know that Iโm happy, healthy and at peace in life finally. Leave me alone and respect that Iโm where I actually want to be finally all together.โ
Wilkinson will celebrate her 40th birthday later this year in June.ย
At the end of her caption, she directly addressed those who voiced their concerns about her drinking habits on recent posts.ย
โI hear you and that will be monitored better. Drinking too much is definitely drinking too much,โ she wrote before joking, โbut you know whatโs coming up in JUNEโฆ. Shots. Love ya.โย
Beside her post, she shared a photo of her posing in front of a mirror and a short clip of her showing off her new physique.ย
Celebrity friends and fans offered Wilkinson support in the comments.ย
Podcaster Bunnie XO, wife of musician Jelly Roll, wrote, โAnyone thatโs remotely successful in their life doesnโt have time (to) tear another person down. Remember that shug.โ
Comedian and actor Heather McDonald praised Wilkinson for being a โgorgeous, caring, smart mama.โ
One fan simply said, โDonโt be so hard on yourself. Youโre gorgeous.โ
Wilkinson previously spoke about changes she has made to her lifestyle to benefit her mental health after struggling in the past.
Last year, she told People that in 2023 she was taken to the hospital and placed on the antipsychotic medication Abilify. She also attended outpatient therapy three times a week.ย
โI was dying of depression,โ she revealed. โI was hitting the end of my life, and I went into psychosis. I felt like I wasnโt strong enough to live anymore.โ
She said it was the lowest point of her life and that she felt hopeless. Wilkinson realized she needed help and encouraged others to also face their problems.ย
โAnxiety and depression is real and itโs important to seek help whenever you feel like the world is caving in on you. I thought I was strong enough. I thought I was strong enough to walk the world. Iโm Kendra. Iโm Kendra Wilkinson. I got this. I can walk this world. I can walk it strong. I donโt need therapy. I donโt need treatment. And I was wrong,โ she said.ย
One day, she decided she couldnโt work through her mental health struggles on her own and reached out to her ex-husband to ask him to drive her to the hospital.
โTo accept help that day and for Hank to drive me to the hospital was a huge day in both of our lives,โ she recalled. โIt was a big day for my family and kids. I didnโt realize how bad I was suffering or what people were seeing of me until I got there. I had to really look in the mirror and be like, โI need help.โโ
She spent two months getting treatment and prioritizing her mental health.ย
โDepression is something that doesnโt just go away. Itโs a practice. Itโs something that stays with you, I think through life,โ she noted. โSo you just have to learn to work with it. You have to learn to accept it. And itโs a part of me. Itโs going to be a part of me and thatโs OK.โย
