Julian McMahon, ‘Nip/Tuck,’ ‘Charmed’ Star, Dies at 56 After Cancer Battle



Julian McMahon, known for starring in the 2000s โ€œFantastic Four” movies, “Nip/Tuck,” “Charmed” and more, has died. He was 56.

His wife, Kelly McMahon, confirmed his passing in a statement, obtained by NBC News.

“With an open heart, I wish to share with the world that my beloved husband, Julian McMahon, died peacefully this week after a valiant effort to overcome cancer,” the statement read. “Julian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work, and he loved his fans.”

“His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible,” her statement continued. “We ask for support during this time to allow our family to grieve in privacy. And we wish for all of those to whom Julian brought joy, to continue to find joy in life. We are grateful for the memories.”

According to Deadline, the actor passed away in Clearwater, Florida, on July 2. Details on his death have not be disclosed.

On the official Facebook account of โ€œNip/Tuck,โ€ Warner Bros. TV shared a statement about the actorโ€™s death, writing it โ€œmourns the loss of our friend Julian McMahon.โ€

โ€œOur thoughts are with his family, friends, colleagues, and fans,โ€ the company added.

According to his IMDb profile, McMahon was born in Sydney, Australia, in 1968. His father, Billy McMahon, was the Prime Minister of Australia in the early ’70s.

While pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Wollongong, McMahon started a career in modeling. After achieving local popularity with a TV commercial, McMahon was able to book his first big role in 1989’s “The Power, the Passion.”

After that, he starred in the Aussie soap “Home and Away” before he got another big role in 1992 acting opposite Elliott Gould in “Wet and Wild Summer!”

McMahon then moved to Hollywood to take on bigger roles that included the WB’s hit supernatural drama “Charmed,” which he recurred as demon Cole Turner.

In 2005, he landed the highly coveted role of Victor Van Doom in the “Fantastic Four” movie and sequel before he appeared on the long-running TV show “Nip/Tuck” as Dr. Christian Troy and later CBS’ “FBI: Most Wanted” as team leader Jess LaCroix.

The actor is survived by his daughter Madison McMahon, 25, whom he shares with ex-wife, “Baywatch” star Brooke Burns.
