Heist Brewing Company sued by contractor over alleged failure to pay bills

The contractor claims they were never paid for cleaning up a fire that caused $1 million in damage last summer.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. โ€” A Charlotte brewery is facing a $300,000 lawsuit after a contractor claimed it was never paid for cleaning up damage caused by a fire.ย

Content Restoration Services claims it was contracted to clean up damage at Heist Brewery in NoDa after a fire last July. The fire caused more than $1 million in damage at the brewpub; however, the company says it was never paid for the work cleaning the property. The lawsuit was filed on Feb. 24, shortly after the brewery reopened to the public.ย

Court records show that Heist Brewing Company hasn’t legally responded to the lawsuit.ย

The fire broke out at the popular North Davidson Street brewery around 7 p.m. on July 16, 2024. The fire was controlled in 40 minutes, but not before a second alarm call for service was struck as crews battled the fire.ย

Whenย Charlotte Fire Department firefighters arrived, they reported seeing smoke coming out of the building’s roof.

“We had a minor fire in our facility this evening,” Heist Brewery staff wrote on Instagram back in July. “Our staff acted very quickly to assist all of our guests out of the building, and no injuries were sustained.”
