Heather Rae El Moussa and Tarek El Moussa are in couple’s therapy to discuss the “sensitive topic” of whether or not they should expand their family.
The “Flip Off” stars welcomed son Tristan, 2, in January 2023 and if Heather Rae El Moussa had it her way, they would give Tristan a sibling right now, she revealed on a recent episode of “Scrubbing In with Becca Tilley & Tanya Rad” podcast.
“(Tristan) is, like, the light of my life. It makes me so happy. I’m like, ‘How could I not want more?'” she said. “But my husband is very much done.”
“So we’re very different on what we want for our future, which is hard,” she added.
The former “Selling Sunset” star, who is also stepmom to her husband’s two kids with his ex-wife, Christina Haack, told the podcast’s hosts that before Tarek El Moussa came into her life, she never met anyone she “would want to have children with.”
In fact, in their early days of courtship, the couple agreed that kids were not in their future. “Haha, fast forward!” Heather Rae El Moussa joked.
The reality star said she became interested in the idea of motherhood after her feelings for Tarek El Moussa deepened.
“We fell in love,” she explained. “You know, you have this deep connection with someone and I loved being a stepmom so much. I was so close to the kids. I just wanted to experience it on my own, and have my own, and have my own with him.”
After welcoming Tristan, motherhood quickly became the focus of Heather Rae El Moussa’s life. “I never wanted to leave (the house),” she said. “I want to be with him all the time. I still do.”
She and her husband began discussing the possibility of welcoming a second child in couple’s therapy four months ago. “I wish we would have started (therapy) sooner because I think it’s such an amazing thing and it helps communication,” Heather Rae El Moussa said.
Though her husband has pointed out to her that he’s been “raising babies” since he was in his 20s, Heather Rae El Moussa said she feels as though her journey into motherhood has only just begun.
“Me, I’m like, ‘But I just started,’” she said. “That’s kind of where we’re at. But we’re talking through it.”
She also revealed that if she does become a mom again, she’d prefer to do it sooner rather than later.
“I’m 37. I’m turning 38 this year. So, for me, it’s kind of like now or never in a way, not because you can’t have babies older, but I don’t want to be 40 having babies still because it’s a lot,” she said
“It takes up a lot of your time, a lot of your life and the kids are my priority over myself. So, I want to do it, get my body back. And it took a long time. It’s hard,” she added.
