At the 2003 Oscars, Adrien Brody famously (and infamously) swept up presenter Halle Berry and gave her a kiss after winning the best actor award.
Twenty-two years later, Berry returned the favor.
The Oscar-winner grabbed Brody for a kiss on the red carpet that she joked on Instagram was โpayback.โ The scene at the 2025 Oscars on March 2 was reminiscent of Brody controversially dipping Berry for a celebratory kiss onstage after winning best actor for โThe Pianist.โ
โSurpriseeeย @adrienbrody!! I had to get some payback ๐,โ Berry wrote on Instagram.
As Berry approached Brody, she issued a quick apology to Brody’s partner, Georgina Chapman.
“I’m sorry Georgina, but I gotta do it,” she said before kissing Brody.
The latest Oscars moment between the two actors came just hours before Brody took home the best actor Oscar for โThe Brutalist.” Berry was at the ceremony as a presenter.
The two times Brody shared a kiss with Berry, he won an Oscar, 22 years apart.
Fans couldn’t get enough of the sweet moment.

โI love this the reunion the world needs,โ another commented.
The 2025 Oscars are broadcast live from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood in Los Angeles at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT. The official red carpet show will start at 6:30 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT.
Theย 2025 Oscars are available to watchย on ABC and stream live on Hulu. Among theย most-nominated filmsย are โEmilia Pรฉrezโ with 13 nominations and โWickedโ with 10.
The list of performers includes Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, Queen Latifah, Raye and Doja Cat, among others. The ceremony will also feature a special appearance by the Los Angeles Master Chorale.
