Most Formula 1 teams had only a short journey to reach the Silverstone circuit, which hosted the British Grand Prix from July 4 to July 6, the 12th event in a 24-race season. Of the ten teams competing in the World Championship, seven are located in the Midlands, in central England, less than 80 minutes away by car. This is a unique setup in a sport where the most advanced engineering teams in motorsport compete against one another.

Much like Hollywood is to the film industry or Silicon Valley to technology, this verdant 25,000 square kilometer area is nicknamed Motorsport Valley because it has become a major magnet for motorsport professionals. With the exception of Ferrari, all the Formula 1 powerhouses are here. Red Bull is based in Milton Keynes, Alpine in Enstone, McLaren in Woking, Mercedes in Brackley, Williams in Grove, and Haas in Banbury. Racing Bulls is a special case, with two headquarters: The main one in Faenza, Italy, where 500 of its 700 staff are based, and another in Milton Keynes.

Aston Martin, recognizable for its green cars, chose to set up directly at Silverstone. Just steps from the circuit, it inaugurated a 37,000-square-meter facility in 2023, employing 800 people, followed by an ultra-modern wind tunnel earlier this year. This โ‚ฌ235 million investment reflects the region’s prosperity.
