Former “Real Housewives of Dallas” star DโAndra Simmons has revealed that she is undergoing surgery after being diagnosed with breast cancer.
Simmons, 56, opened up about her diagnosis July 29 on Instagram, where she shared that she was being treated at the UTSW Simmons Cancer Center, a Dallas facility established by her uncle Harold Simmons. The reality star said she was the third woman on her motherโs side of the family to be diagnosed with breast cancer.
Simmons shared details about her treatment in several behind-the-scenes videos in her Instagram stories, which began with a clip that showed her being driven to the hospital by her husband, Jeremy Lock.
Simmons revealed that she was scheduled to undergo “three procedures,” which would culminate in the surgical removal of a tumor in her breast.
“Just ready to get this over with, right, honey?” Simmons asked her husband in the car.
“Absolutely. Get that s— out of thereโ Lock responded.
“What did you say? You said a bad word,” Simmons asked, reprimanding Lock.
“That’s what it is,” he replied.

In her next video, Simmons explained that she would first undergo a seed localization, a procedure in which is a small, radioactive seed is placed on the breast tumor.
โThat way when the surgeon goes in, theyโll know exactly where to take the tumor out,โ she said.
She said she would then undergo a second procedure to determine which lymph nodes needed to be removed.
Simmons also shared a photo of herself sitting in her hospital bed with her surgeon as her husband and her mom, Dee Dee, joined the pair.
“Almost ready to get this surgery started!” Simmons wrote on text over the image.
“I am truly grateful to have such an excellent care team in place… After today, I will add breast cancer survivor to a long list of life experiences,” she wrote on Instagram,
“I look forward to telling my story to inspire others in the future,” she added. “Thank you to everyone that has sent prayers and support to my family and me. We appreciate it so very much and love having your support.”
