Elton John, Paul McCartney Appear on Album for Spinal Tap Sequel

The world’s most famous fictional band is getting some help from some real-life stars.

Elton John, Paul McCartney, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood will all appear on “The End Continues,” the upcoming album for the highly anticipated sequel “Spinal Tap II: The End Continues.”

The album, which is due out Sept. 12, in conjunction with the movie’s release that same day, features nine all-new songs, as well as four new takes on classic Spinal Tap tracks.

John lends his talents to two songs on the album, including the band’s popular cut, “Stonehenge.” In a new video for the track released July 31, the legendary singer plays with the band on a darkened stage.

Fans of the original movie will no doubt recall how pivotal “Stonehenge” is, thanks to a hilarious scene in which the band accidentally gets an 18-inch version of the prehistoric monument, instead of the 18-foot one it requested.

‘Spinal Tap II: The End Continues’ Cast and Director

“Spinal Tap II: The End Continues” features band members David St. Hubbins (Michael McKean), Nigel Tufnel (Christopher Guest) and Derek Smalls (Harry Shearer) more than four decades after “This Is Spinal Tap” came out in 1984. The film follows the group as it reunites for a final concert, while documentarian Marty DiBergi (Rob Reiner) also returns.

Reiner, who directed the original mockumentary and helms the sequel, has previously said it was important to come up with a good concept for a second movie.

“For years, everybody kept saying, ‘You should do a “Spinal Tap 2.” You should do another one.’ And none of us ever wanted to do it because it’s not like you just do something,” he told TODAY.com in 2023.

“We have to have an idea of something that would make you want to do it. And we did come up with an idea that we liked. And everything spoke from the idea. It’s not like, ‘Ooh, let’s do a “Spinal Tap 2.”’”
