CLT airport named most financially efficient airport third year in a row

The Air Transport Research Society awarded Charlotte Douglas International based on 2023 data.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) was recognized as the most financially efficient airport in North America for the third year in a row by the Airport Transport Research Society (ATRS) on July 3.

The ATRS is an air transport research organization. It studies airports in Pacific Asia, Europe and North America.

ATRS named CLT most financially efficient after a year of studying the airport’s productivity, efficiency, cost competitiveness and financial results.

Meanwhile, last month, CLT airport workers held a strike for better wages from American Airlines.

CLT is one of American Airlines’ largest hubs with many of its workers earning less than $20 an hour.

Charlotte airport receives this award proudly.

“To be recognized again by ATRS affirms the core of what we strive for every day: to connect the world by valuing people, partnerships and productivity and to be the hub of choice with innovative experiences and superior facilities,” chief financial officer Mike Hill said in a statement.
