The news is out!
Country singer Chris Lane and his wife, Lauren Lane (nรฉe Bushnell), are expecting a baby girl.
The couple exclusively revealed the sex of their third child during a July 8 appearance on TODAY with Jenna & Friends. After performing his new song “Shade Tree” from his album of the same name, Chris Lane welcomed his wife on camera to share the happy news.
“Honey, come over here,” he said as Lauren Lane walked over to him in a beautiful yellow dress that showed off her baby bump.
“So, this pregnancy has been a lot different this time around and there’s a reason for that, because we just found out we are having a girl,” he said.
“Your life is about to change. It will never be the same,” guest host Dwyane Wade told the country crooner.
Chris Lane and Lauren Lane, who is known for appearing on Season 20 of “The Bachelor,” are already parents to two sons, Baker, 2, and Dutton, 4. In a joint interview with TODAY.com, the couple say they were in “complete shock” when they learned they were going to be having a girl.
“This was kind of a surprise. And yes, I would say we were hoping for a girl, just because we have two beautiful boys. I grew up with brothers and sisters, so I hoped for that for them, but I also think we would’ve been so excited for a boy,” Lauren Lane says.
“Yeah,” Chris Lane agrees. “I’m thankful that we can have two boys and a girl because I think early in we said that would be great to have a girl.”
It worked out great for the couple because now their daughter will get to grow up with two older brothers. This is something that Lauren Lane says she had wanted for herself as a kid.
“I remember when I was little, I always wished for older brothers, and so I’m excited for her that she gets this, and they’re two very, very sweet older brothers. They’re going to be great,” she says.
As for their daughter’s name, the Lanes say they’re still undecided on what they’re going to call her. They also don’t know what to expect when she arrives.
“I don’t really know what to expect, because in the Lane family, where I come from, we never really had a ton of girls around. It was always just a bunch of guys. So I feel like I’ve got a lot to learn, but obviously Lauren will just naturally know what to do,” the “If I Die Before You” singer says.
Lauren Lane adds, “You’re always learning as a parent. It’s a very humbling experience to be a parent.”
Now that their family is getting larger, the couple have put more thought into the future, including how many kids they want in total.
“I would like more kids. I would take more children, because children are the biggest blessing, but I don’t want to be pregnant again,” Lauren Lane laughs. “I’m very thankful for healthy pregnancies, and I think this is it for me.”
