Charlotte brothers launch Black-owned business for real estate videos

โ€œI probably spent my last $4,000 on equipment. We bought a mentor course. The course was my last $500 to be exact,โ€ Jason Hare shared.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. โ€” Both Jason and Justin Hare have an eye for detail. Which is why when Jason spotted an opportunity several years ago, he jumped at it.

โ€œI ran across an ad on YouTube of somebody taking pictures of a house, and we would look at house tours on YouTube, but you never think somebodyโ€™s behind the camera,โ€ Jason Hare recalled.

The thought of taking pictures and videos of houses also peaked Justin Hareโ€™s interest.

โ€œHe showed me the video and that looked like something that would be cool because we used to always go to YouTube and look at videos of houses,โ€ Justin Hare said.

In a matter of time, with just a few thousand dollars left to his name, Jason Hare decided to turn their interest for creating content into a business.

โ€œI probably spent my last $4,000 on equipmentโ€ Jason Hare shared. “We bought a mentor course. The course was my last $500 to be exact.”

The duo went from being just brothers to also being business partners. In 2021, they launched their company, Go Premium Real Estate Media.

โ€œMe personally when I do shoots, if itโ€™s two stories, I like to start upstairs and then work downstairs,โ€ Justin Hare said as he explained his process to WCNC Charlotte.

They say their endeavor started by taking photos of empty houses. Eventually, they began reaching out to realtors.

โ€œIt didnโ€™t take off immediately,โ€ Jason Hare explained. “I would say maybe six months to a year is when we started seeing some progress.”

The brothers said they slowly built a client base.ย

Recent numbers from Lending Tree show while still small, the percentage of black-owned U.S. businesses continues to grow year-over-year. The latest available data shows more than 3% of businesses were Black-owned in 2022. That’s up from 2.7% in 2021.

โ€œThey actually reached out to me on social media,” Matt Norman recalled. “My slogan [is] persistence overcomes resistance. And at first, I wasnโ€™t really looking for any new contractors but the more they kept hitting me up, I started to realize these guys got something.”

Norman is a realtor with Yancey Realty. He is one of Go Premiumโ€™s clients.ย

Candice Marks, broker and owner of Legacy Dream Homes, is also a client and said the brotherโ€™s work ethic should serve as inspiration.

โ€œTheyโ€™re young; they are go-getters, and they do what they say they are going to do, so, thatโ€™s what also inspired me to just continue to help them,โ€ she stated. “They deliver.”

The brothers said they went from just two shoots a month to nearly 10 shoots a day.

โ€œBusy season, we hit at least $20,000 a month,โ€ Justin Hare said.

Now, the two said their focus is on growth and continuing to deliver quality content.

โ€œI kind of want to be like the Chick-fil-A of real-estate photography,โ€ Jason said smiling.
