Blaze Pizza in South End abruptly closes

The pizzeria opened that location nearly a decade ago.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A cornerstone of the restaurants in South End has closed its doors.

Blaze Pizza, which touts its fresh dough and creative ingredients while creating the pies assembly-line style, seemingly unexpectedly closed after being in that location for nearly a decade. WCNC Charlotte first noticed it was listed as closed on its website on Tuesday. There was also a sale of over 100 of the restaurant’s items listed to close on Nov. 4 with Vanish Auctions, but bidding is open currently. The auction house said all of the items for sale are going “as-is” and anyone who buys them has to come get them themselves as they cannot be shipped. The bids will start at $5, according to the auction house.

The popular pizzeria, which opened in 2016, was located on Camden Road near West Boulevard, is not far from Tutti Gelato and Salted Melon Market and Eatery. The only location left of Blaze PIzza in Charlotte will be its restaurant in University City off of North Tryon Street just north of East W.T. Harris Boulevard.

WCNC Charlotte reached out to Blaze’s corporate offices to find out why the closure happened but has not heard back yet. There was a message posted on the South End location that said:

“We want to thank you for the support over the last 10 years in the South End community. Stop by our other locations to keep blazing with us!”
