Alec Baldwin Has Regrets About How He Raised Daughter Ireland

TLC’s new reality show, “The Baldwins,” shows the chaotic life of Alec Baldwin, his wife Hilaria Baldwin and their seven young children. Alec also has an adult child, Ireland Baldwin, from his earlier marriage to actress Kim Basinger.

On the second episode of the show, Alec revealed how 29-year-old Ireland fits in with his younger children … and what he regrets about her childhood.

“She loves the kids,” he said of Ireland an on-camera interview. “I mean she’s very sweet to them and she’s their older sister but she’s not in that pack.”

Alec shared more about his first attempt at fatherhood — almost three decades prior — in an interview that is spliced in between images of Alec and Hilaria’s oldest daughter, Carmen, giving her dad a homemade facial.

“My relationship with my daughter Ireland was so negatively impacted by my divorce from her mother,” he said. Their divorce took seven years. He said that settling financial arrangements took about 18 months “and everything else was custody.”

The custody battle was “just insanity,” and “really, really tough,” he said. “One of my most regrettable things about the whole thing was how it affected Ireland.”

In 2007, a voice mail in which Alec called his then 11-year-old daughter Ireland a “rude, thoughtless, little pig” was leaked to the public, causing a huge uproar.

In the years since, Ireland has said she has moved on from that moment to have a loving relationship with her dad.

“It took a lot of time and a lot of therapy. We were both in really dark places in our lives,” Ireland told ET in 2020. “But I love him, I respect him more than anyone … we love each other.”

Ireland has now started a family of her own.

In May 2023, Ireland and her partner André Allen Anjos (a musician who goes by RAC) welcomed their first child, a daughter named Holland. Holland is roughly the same age as Alec and Hilaria’s children, making her aunts and uncles seem more like her cousins.
