It’s not surprising that Alec Baldwin is in his peak grumpy dad era.
TLC’s new reality show, “The Baldwins,” introduces viewers to a day in the life of the actor, 66, his wife Hilaria, 41, their seven kids and eight pets. And his daily life includes a lot of screaming.
Alec and Hilaria, who tied theย knot in 2012,ย are currently raising Carmen, Rafael, Leonardo, Romeo, Eduardo, Marรญa Lucรญa and Ilaria. Baldwin also has a 29-year-old daughter, Ireland Baldwin, from his marriage to Kim Basinger, and Ireland has a young daughter named Holland.
In 2023, Hilaria told Romper that the trickiest number of kids to have was actually two.
โWith two, I felt like I could still have a level of control; I was trying to micromanage everything,โ she said. โAnd once I got to three, I just released and was like, โOK, itโs going to be chaos. We are outnumbered. Youโve got to let it go.โโ
Ireland, 29
Alec shares Ireland with actressย Kim Basinger. The pair were married for nine years before divorcing in 2002.
Ireland now has a daughter of her own, making Alec a grandfather.
Baby Holland, who is almost 2, loves to spend sweet moments with Alec, who Ireland referred to on Instagram as “granddaddy pop pop peepaw (itโs a working title).”
Carmen, 11
Alec and Hilaria welcomed their first child together in August 2013.
โItโs a second chance for me, in a way,โ Alec, then 55, told People. โEverybody knows I had a pretty unpleasant custody battle for Ireland.โ
It appears that Carmen, now 11, could have a future in the beauty industry. Hilaria recently shared on Instagram a photo of herself and Carmen looking glam and gave her daughter all the the credit.
โDate night with my first baby … she did both our makeup,โ Hilaria wrote. โHow quickly they get big and how amazing it is to be inspired by them. Carmen, you are such a special soul โฆ just like your siblings โฆ all unique and equally incredible.โย
Rafael, 9
On June 17, 2015 โ the same day Rafael was born โ his dad hosted the Fragrance Foundation Awards in New York City.
Alec told Extra that he was involved in the delivery. โIโm not gonna get into graphic detail, but I was on the team,โ he said.ย
After calling Hilaria his โhero,โ he said, “She’s tough.”
Rafael, or Raf, as he’s known to his family members, used to have a penchant for swearing. In 2021, Hilaria shared an Instagram story of Rafael, then in first grade, pledging to no longer use curse words.
Leonardo (“Leo”), 8
Leonardo รngel Charles joined the family on Sept. 12, 2016.
In a tribute to Leonardo “Leo” on his 7th birthday, Hilaria gushed that he is “the sweetest soul.”
“(You) bring so much positivity and beauty and laughter into our lives,” she wrote. “You are my kitty buddy and I am grateful every day that I get to be your mama.”
Romeo, 6
Romeo Alejandro David Baldwin joined the Baldwin brood on May 17, 2018.
โHeโs here! Heโs perfect!” wrote Hilaria on Instagram after his birth. ย
For Romeoโs 6th birthday, she turned to Instagram to share her sonโs love of โsoccer, art, doing random funny dances.โ Heโs still โworking on loving the vegetables,โ however.
Layered on top of her Romeo slideshow is John Lennonโs โBeautiful Boy,โ demonstrating her love of the only Baldwin who shares her blue eyes.
Eduardo (“Edu”), 4
Eduardo Pau Lucas Baldwin was born on Sept. 8, 2020.
โWe would love to introduce you to Eduardo Pau Lucas Baldwin,โ Hilaria wrote in her Instagram birth announcement. โHis name means โwealthy guardian of peace and light.โ We love you baby Edu.โ
Hilaria had suffered two successive miscarriages before Edu’s birth, making him her โrainbow baby.โ
โI didnโt know so many tears existed in the body,โ Hilaria wrote of the miscarriages on Instagram. โIโm trying to be present for my grief but understand that life goes on and there is still beauty, even in darkness.โ
Edu seems to bring a lot of joy to the Baldwin family, as you can see here in this post from Alec.
Marรญa Lucรญa (MariLu), 3
Just months afterย welcoming their fifth child, Hilaria announced the arrival of a surprise sixth baby on Instagram with a photo showing the proud mom cuddling an extra child.
MariLu joined the crew in April 2021.
Close in age, Edu and MariLu are constant companions and are often photographed together.
Hilaria shared a chaotic and joyful photos from MariLu’s third birthday on Instagram, noting the fact that she’s a โtiny little actressโ and makes her family address her by her princess name.
She added, โI love that you will go from princesses to playing ball and being all scrappy with your big brothers. What a force you are! You make life better every day and we feel so blessed that you came into our life.โย
Ilaria, 2
Ilaria Catalina Irena Baldwin was born Sept. 22, 2022.
โSheโs here! We are so excited to introduce you to our tiny dream come true. Both she and I are happy and healthy. Her Baldwinito siblings are spending the day bonding and welcoming her into our home. Much love to you all. We are so happy to celebrate this wonderful news with you,โ Hilaria wrote on Instagram.
Ilariaโs first sentence was, โI want dada,โ according to Hilaria: But this daddyโs girl isnโt afraid to throw her weight around and police โthe wild and the crazyโ Baldwin family.
