Matthew Atkinson just gave fans of “The Bold and the Beautiful” a glimmer of hope that he may reprise his role as Thomas Forrester.
It’s been a year since viewers of the CBS daytime drama last saw his character, but Atkinson’s latest Instagram post suggests that he could soon reappear on the show.
On Aug. 11, the actor posted a video of himself playing cornhole outside the set of “The Bold and the Beautiful.” The short clip began with Atkinson filming himself in front of a massive sign of the show’s name.
The actor then showed off his skills and landed his shot on the second try.
Atkinson captioned the video, “Second time’s a charm.” Many of his followers were curious to know if he was referring to his cornhole game or teasing a return to “The Bold and the Beautiful.”
“❤️❤️❤️u back?! My Wish comes true🔥🔥🔥,” one person commented.
“OMG are you returning to B&B?!?! 😍🤗👏👏 That would be fantastic!! I’ve missed Thomas so much!” another fan wrote.
Many fans referenced Atkinson’s prior on-screen love interest, Hope Logan (Annika Noelle), in their reactions.
“Really hope you are returning as Thomas so we can get #Thope back as your chemistry with Annika was amazing and we miss you guys together on screen,” someone commented.
“I hope this isn’t just teasing us because Thomas and Thope fans have suffered enough already 😂,” another person wrote.

Atkinson joined the cast of “The Bold and the Beautiful” in 2019 and last appeared as Thomas, the son of Ridge Forrester and Taylor Hayes, in 2024.
Thomas was a bit of a divisive character and struggled with his mental health off and on during his tenure on the show. His love for Hope turned into an obsession at times, and their relationship had plenty of bumps in the road.
Hope became a mother figure to Thomas’ son, Douglas, and Thomas was eager to marry her once her marriage to Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) fell apart. Still, Hope wasn’t ready to dive back into another serious relationship just yet.
Thomas quickly grew impatient with Hope and moved on with another woman, Paris Buckingham (Diamond White), much to Hope’s surprise. When viewers last saw Thomas on screen, he had returned to town for a quick visit with Paris and Douglas.
Since then, Hope has found love with Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor), so a surprise appearance from Thomas would certainly shake things up.
