Jennifer Lopez just gave a masterclass in how to handle yourself gracefully when a cricket tries to crash your performance.
The singer, who is currently on tour, had an unwelcome guest onstage during her recent concert in Kazakhstan.
A video of the unplanned encounter, posted on the Instagram page for Lopez’s On The JLo newsletter, shows the moment when the insect decides to invade the singer’s personal space.
In the short clip, Lopez sings the final notes of a song as a cricket suddenly appears on her midsection. The oversized bug quickly makes its way up her costume until it reaches her neck.
Without flinching, the 56-year-old continues on like a pro and sends the cricket on its way as she flicks it off her neck in an elegant move.
“It was tickling me,” Lopez says, as the crowd cheers.
The singer then rubs her neck, all while maintaining a smile.
The On The JLo Instagram account shared the video with fans, captioning the post, “Plot twist: @JLo just started rehearsals for Kiss of the Cricket Womanโฆ on stageโฆ in real time. ๐๐๐ฆ.”
The wild moment impressed Lopez’s fans, and many of them took to the comments to share their reactions.
“She is just the best! ๐ฉทโจ really fun moment but so professional at the same time! ๐ฆโจ,” one wrote.
Another commented, “You are such a professional Jen! ๐ but I almost screamed when I saw it was going to your neck.!”
Some Instagram users called the cricket “lucky” for scoring an encounter with the superstar, and one commented, “Even insects want her.”
This is hardly the first time Lopez has experienced an onstage mishap. In July, the performer’s skirt fell off and exposed her underwear during her concert in Warsaw, Poland.
Ever the professional, Lopez joked about the moment, saying, “Iโm out here in my underwear.โ
The singer teased that the moment would “be everywhere” and go viral.
When a backup dancer attempted to put the skirt back on Lopez, she grabbed it and tossed it into the crowd.
โIโm glad that they reinforced that costume,โ she said. โAnd Iโm glad I had underwear on. I donโt usually wear underwear.โ
