America wants the naked truth about the relationship status of the stars of โThe Naked Gun.โ
Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson play love interests in the comedy reboot of the classic 1988 film, prompting TODAYโs Craig Melvin to ask if there are some real-life sparks when they appeared on the show July 29.
โWhatโs the deal here?โ Craig asked. โYouโre both single right now. Thereโs clearly chemistry on display throughout this film. Are you two an item?โ
โCraig!โ Neeson replied incredulously.
โWhat?โ asked an exasperated Anderson. โI donโt understand the question.โ
โI had never met Pamela before. We met on set. And we discovered we had a lovely, budding chemistry โ as two actors,โ Neeson said.
โYeah,โ agreed Anderson.
โItโs like, โOh, this is nice. Letโs not mold this. Letโs just let it breathe,’โ Neeson continued. โAnd thatโs what we did.โ
โWeโre watching the beginning of the breathing of a budding relationship,โ Craig said.
โAmericaโs here for it, we’re here for whatever this turns into,โ he added.
As the interview wrapped up, Craig once again played up the relationship.
“We want you to come back when it’s official,” he said.
Anderson has been married to Tommy Lee, Kid Rock, Rick Salomon and Dan Hayhurst, whom she separated from in 2022, E! News reported. Neeson was married to Natasha Richardson, who died in 2009 in a skiing accident.
Neeson plays Frank Drebin Jr. โ the son of Leslie Nielsenโs original โNaked Gunโ character โ in the new โNaked Gun,โ while Anderson plays his love interest, Beth Davenport. The movie opens Aug. 1.
