Adam Sandler’s ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ Has Subtle Tribute To Late Cameron Boyce

Adam Sandler’s new movie, “Happy Gilmore 2,” includes a sweet homage to his late “Grown Ups” co-star Cameron Boyce.

About 14 minutes into the film, Sandler’s character, Happy Gilmore, is seen approaching a check-in booth with golf clubs in hand. Two people are seen watching a show from a television set behind the counter, and a brief glimpse of the screen features Boyce.

The Easter egg appears to be from an episode of Boyce’s hit Disney Channel show “Jessie,” where he played Luke Ross from 2011 to 2015.

Boyce died in 2019 at age 20.

Online, fans caught the moment in “Happy Gilmore 2” and said it was a lovely tribute.

“I love the fact Adam Sandler put that quick shot of Cameron Boyce on the tv in #happygilmore2,” one person wrote on X.

“This is so touching,” another said.

Boyce and Sandler first worked together on the 2010 comedy “Grown Ups,” where Boyce played one of the comedian’s sons. Then, in 2013, they reprised their roles as dad Lenny and son Keithie Feder for “Grown Ups 2.”

In 2019, Boyce died in his sleep from a seizure caused by epilepsy. He was 20.

“The world is now undoubtedly without one of its brightest lights, but his spirit will live on through the kindness and compassion of all who knew and loved him,” his family said in a statement to “E! News” at the time.

After Boyce’s death, Sandler shared a tribute to the young actor, writing in part, “‪Too young. Too sweet. Too funny. Just the nicest, most talented, and most decent kid around.”

The credits of Sandler’s 2020 film “Hubie Halloween” also featured a tribute to Boyce.

“In loving memory of Cameron Boyce,” the tribute read. “Gone way too soon and one of the kindest, coolest, funniest, and most talented kids we knew. You live on forever in our hearts and are truly missed every day.”
