Winona Ryder is getting candid about her relationship with Al Pacino.
During an interview with Elle that was published on July 23, she said there used to be a time when she was โabsolutely in loveโ with the โGodfatherโ actor. Ryder explained that she felt a great deal of feelings towards Pacino when they worked together on a “Richard III” workshop, which later turned into their 1996 film, “Looking for Richard.”
“We were doing that workshop for ‘Richard III,’ which I didnโt know was gonna be a movie. I was actively in love with him,” she said. “He was obsessed with coffee, and he would take me all over New York โ like, to the weirdest places โ to try different coffees.”
“Iโm 22, or whatever. Finally, heโs dropping me off wherever Iโm staying, and Iโm like, ‘I love you, you know. I really am completely in love with you,'” she continued.
Ryder said Pacino then reached out to touch her hand and told her, “Aw, honey, noooo.”
“Then, like 10 years later, I meet his girlfriend, whoโs younger than me,” she laughed. “Dude, Iโm f—ing throwing myself at you.”
Ryder explained that she still has a good relationship with Pacino. She said that sometimes they play poker together.
“Itโs the best,” she said.
Ryder has since moved on. She’s currently in a long-term relationship with her boyfriend, Scott Mackinlay Hahn. As for Pacino, he’s been in a couple of relationships since the ’90s, but like Ryder, he’s never been married.
Other than Hahn, Ryder has been linked to other famous men in Hollywood, such as Johnny Depp and her โBram Stokerโs Dracula” co-star Keanu Reeves.
In a 2018 interview with Entertainment Weekly, Ryder talked about the long-running joke that she might actually be married to Reeves in real life because they had real priests at their fake wedding ceremony for their “Dracula” movie.
โWe actually got married in โDracula.โ No, I swear to god I think weโre married in real life,โ she joked.
