Christopher Meloni Joins Dan Fogelman’s NFL Drama Series on Hulu

Christopher Meloni is ready to kick off a new venture in his career.

The โ€œLaw & Order: Organized Crimeโ€ actor has signed on to star in an upcoming Hulu series set in the NFL.

The untitled show comes from โ€œThis Is Usโ€ creator Dan Fogelman, who shared a screenshot of a Deadline article confirming Meloniโ€™s involvement.

โ€œWelcome to the team @chris_meloni,โ€ he wrote on his Instagram page July 23.

Meloni will reportedly play the head coach of an NFL team, according to Deadline.

โ€œIt is believed to be a sprawling drama set inside the world of the NFL with a generational family component,โ€ Deadline first reported last year about the show.

Meloni is best known for his role as Detective Elliot Stabler on โ€œLaw & Order: Organized Crime,โ€ which concluded its fifth season on Peacock in June. He originated the role on โ€œLaw and Order: Special Victims Unitโ€ in 1999 and played Stabler for 12 seasons before reprising him on the show for multiple episodes beginning in 2021, the same year โ€œOrganized Crimeโ€ premiered.

Interestingly, โ€œThis Is Usโ€ would occasionally mention the NFLโ€™s Pittsburgh Steelers during its run, with the Pearson family rooting on their hometown team.

This new project will also mark a full-circle moment of sorts for Meloni. One of his earliest roles came in the fifth season of the HBO series โ€œ1st & Ten.โ€ He played Vito Del Greco, also known as Johnny Gunn, in the comedy starring O.J. Simpson that revolved around a fictitious pro football team called the California Bulls.
