From brat to bride.
Charli XCX married The 1975’s George Daniel July 19 in London, according to photos published by Vogue.
The “Brat” songstress seemingly confirmed reports of their nuptials by posting to TikTok in her wedding dress, accompanied by one of her own tracks. (TODAY.com has reached out to reps for the singer for comment.)
Taking part in an online trend involving her song “Girl, so confusing,” featuring Lorde, Charli XCX strutted into the video frame in her short Vivienne Westwood wedding dress and veil, before striking a pose and walking away.
“When George isn’t crying when he sees me walking down the aisle,” she wrote over the July 19 video. In the caption of Charli XCX’s post, she also shared a sweet but subtle detail from their nuptials, adding, “Luckily he did xx.”
The latest trend with “Girl, so confusing” involves creators strutting toward something — or in Charli XCX’s case, someone — before immediately doubling back. (Other examples include: “when you walk up to the gym equipment and it’s being used,” or, “when you realize you’re walking the wrong direction.”)
Charli XCX posted about her wedding in a second TikTok video, this one set to 2010’s “Like a G6.” Captioned, “bridal party energy!” the compilation of clips featured Charli XCX in a white baby doll dress, while guests dance and Daniel wears her veil.
Charli XCX and Daniel, who plays drums for the British rock band, notably led by singer Matty Healy, have kept updates about their relationship relatively private. In 2023, they announced their engagement on Instagram, but that post has since been deleted.
As Charli XCX was promoting her hit 2024 album, “Brat,” which famously inspired that year’s “Brat summer,” she opened up about how Daniel was the muse for “Talk talk.” In a TikTok video Charli XCX said the song was inspired by a moment at the annual NME Awards when she and Daniel “were not together,” but “very into each other.”
“We were both looking over at each other — it was very like, one of us would look, and the other one would look away, and then vice versa,” she said.
Daniel is also mentioned by name on “Club classics” in the lyrics, “Yeah, I wanna dance to me/ I wanna dance to A. G/ I wanna dance with George/ I wanna dance to SOPHIE.”
