Jonathan Scott is used to being asked when he and fiancée Zooey Deschanel are tying the knot — but are the wedding bells for their ears alone?
While promoting the HGTV show “Chasing the West” he’s hosting with his brother, set to premiere on July 30, the design expert pondered the question that crosses some couples’ minds while wedding planning: Is it better to elope?
“Zooey and I are having so much fun. And you know, we keep saying, ‘Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, we’ve got to plan a wedding.’ We have not planned it yet,” he tells TODAY.com in a recent interview.
And that’s when the million-dollar question popped up: “Is it better to elope, or is it better to have a grand wedding?”
While Jonathan Scott fished for the answer, Drew Scott said the answer for brother, his senior by four minutes, was crystal clear.
“I know my brother, there’s no way he’s eloping,” he answers.
“Jonathan is the ultimate event planner, and Jonathan and Zooey together are like the ultimate event planners,” Drew Scott continues.
Jonathan Scott admits that wedding planning isn’t “stressful” for him and his fiancée, as they’re “super chill” and like to throw parties.
“Halloween, Christmas … I purposely don’t throw parties because I don’t need to, because (Jonathan and Zooey’s) parties are so epic. I just invite my friends over there,” Drew Scott says with a laugh.
Earlier that morning, basketball icon Dwyane Wade, who was co-hosting TODAY with Jenna & Friends, playfully pressed Jonathan Scott on his wedding plans with the “New Girl” actor.
“Let me just say, there is an idea, a plan in our minds, you will be the first person (to know), I swear,” Jonathan Scott said with a wink to the camera.
The older Property Brother first connected with the “New Girl” actor while filming an episode of “Carpool Karaoke in 2019, and in 2023, he popped the question while they were on a family trip in Scotland.
While the couple has kept wedding plans hush-hush, Jonathan Scott has disclosed that they want to keep the wedding small.
