Megan Stalter made a memorable entrance when she appeared on TODAY with Jenna & Friends on July 15.
The “Too Much” star shocked Jenna Bush Hager and guest co-host Ciara when she revealed her intentionally unfinished outfit for the show.
As she walked out to meet Jenna and Ciara, she revealed her look that appeared as though she was in the middle of getting ready. Clad in a fluffy robe, hair curlers, a lime green purse and heels, Stalter took casual dress to a new level.
“Sorry, I didn’t have time to finish getting ready,” Stalter joked after greeting the two co-hosts with hugs.
Stalter’s on-air look matched the chaotic energy of her TV character, Jessica, in the new Netflix series “Too Much,” which was released on July 10. In the show, co-created by Lena Dunham, Jessica dons a variety of quirky outfits.
Costume designer Arielle Cooper-Lethem, who worked on the Netflix series, has described Jessica’s outfits as “unhinged.”
“She’s putting things together in a way where you’re like, ‘Oh, that’s crazy … but I like it. And I like her,” Cooper-Lethem shared in a July 10 interview with InStyle.
Stalter brought a similar energy to TODAY with her eccentric costume. The “Hacks” actor, who is also known for her comedy and internet presence, continued the bit in the segment.
“I’m so glad we could make this work. I know you have been wanting me on the show,” she said to Jenna and Ciara before squealing with excitement and laughter.
Jenna didn’t hide her surprise and amusement for Stalter’s unique look.
“Now, what is happening here? Your fit is great, but it’s surprising,” she asked.
In response, Stalter blamed the morning show’s early start time for her undone appearance.
“I just didn’t have a lot of time to get ready,” she said. “You guys start so early.”
Stalter used her busy schedule as another reason why she needed to be extra comfortable.
“I have such a big day of press,” she added, before looking off camera to joke about needing to head to her next gig. “And by the way, are we good on time?”
Stalter may have sparked laughter with her look, but Jenna had an important reminder for the star.
“If this is from the hotel, just make sure you return it,” she teased.
