See Madelyn Cline and KJ Apa in Trailer for โ€˜The Map That Leads to Youโ€™

Madelyn Cline and KJ Apa are starring in one of the summer’s most sizzling romances.

The “Outer Banks” and “Riverdale” stars are set to portray Heather and Jack, respectively, in “The Map That Leads to You,” a film premiering Aug. 20 on Prime Video.

The trailer for “The Map That Leads to You” was released July 15, showing how Jack and Heather meet on an overnight train while she’s on a post-college trip across Europe.

New Zealander Jack is retracing his great-grandfather’s journey in an old journal with the intent to visit “every place that he wrote about,” while Heather is following a tight itinerary with her friends before she heads back to the U.S. to start her life after school at the end of the summer.

“I know you think it’s crazy, but what would happen if you didn’t catch your flight home today?” Jack asks Heather.

She smiles, rolls her eyes and slams the trunk of a car shut, and the trailer cuts to the pair driving through Europe, as they travel to multiple locations Jack’s great-grandfather also visited.

“The Map That Leads to You” is based on J.P. Monninger’s novel of the same name, which follows Jack and Heather as they visit multiple destinations before Heather’s September return date.

According to the book’s synopsis, Jack asks Heather to continue traveling, while she tries to convince him to return to the U.S. with her. But Jack has a secret that could forever change Heather’s world.

“If you take the wrong path, you can miss it, and regret it all your life,” Jack says in the trailer for the film.

“Dear John” director Lasse Hallstrรถm directed the movie, which was filmed on location in Spain. In addition to Cline and Apa, Sofia Wylie, Madison Thompson, Orlando Norman and Josh Lucas also star in the film.
