Is there anyone out there? ‘Cause tattoos are getting harder and harder for Adam Levine.
The Maroon 5 frontman is largely known for wearing his art on his sleeve, and almost everywhere else on his body. But in a recent interview with TODAY.com โ while promoting his upcoming album, “Love Is Like,” and the tour to follow โ Levine reveals he’s ready to let the ink dry on his longtime habit.
Levine says his latest tattoo, a refresh of his left sleeve, was a reminder of his pain tolerance โ or lack thereof.
โI covered up my sleeve with another sleeve. Who does that? What is wrong with me? Psychotic,” he says.
He describes the tattoo process as “fun,” but the word “painful” follows closely behind.
“It really hurt. Iโm kind of done with the pain, Iโve decided โฆ now, Iโve softened,” Levine says. “Now, when I get a tattoo, Iโm like, โThis hurts so badly.โ Like, โWhatโs wrong?โ Weโre done.”
Levine also admits that he’s “running out of room” on his body, and his face is one piece of real estate that he “promised” he wouldn’t sacrifice.
Just because the “Sugar” singer isn’t adding fresh ink doesn’t mean he views his tattoos any less. But does he have a favorite?
“No, there’s too many,” he shares thoughtfully. “It’s too overwhelming.”
But a moment later, he adds, “I like the ones on my hands,” with “true love” spelled out across eight of his fingers.
“I like them all,” he says.
