Joanna Gaines Shares 3 ‘Specific Visions’ God Gave Her About Magnolia

When it came time to expand her Magnolia home and lifestyle company, Joanna Gaines turned to divine inspiration to guide her strategic business moves.

In the latest episode of Hoda Kotb’s “Making Space” podcast, the TV personality and interior designer described the role her faith has played in inspiring her to take risks with her Magnolia home and lifestyle company.

“There’s like maybe three very specific visions (God has) given me in my life about Magnolia. One was opening it, one was shutting it down for a season when my kids were four and under and I needed to be home. And then one was the Silos (shopping complex),” she said.

The mother of five then recalled how she sensed God’s influence when she first stumbled upon the area where the Silos currently resides in Waco, Texas.

“When He said, ‘This is the place,’ I was driving by it. I felt like He said, ‘Turn around. Go look at it.’ And I said, ‘No. I’ve got to get to the office.’ I finally said, ‘Well, you don’t really tell God no.’ So I turned around and I stood there and I saw it,” she said.

Gaines said she could clearly envision a shopping area, bakery and bustling area with people everywhere.

“I saw life. And I heard Him say, ‘You need to bring this thing back to life,’” she said. “So I felt like I had three very key moments in our business where I felt his presence and his direction.”

Although Gaines “didn’t get a clear vision” at the time, she did get a “clear meaning” from the moment and decided to forge ahead with what is now a shopping destination.

The TV personality said she takes pride in the fact that Magnolia helps “make space for meaningful moments in people’s lives in their homes.”

“And that became my filter. I needed a filter cuz there were so many things we could do. And I had clarity on, ‘Wait, we get to not just create meaningful moments. We can create space,'” she said.
