Alyssa Milano and ‘Charmed’ Cast Pen Emotional Tributes to Julian McMahon

Julian McMahon’s former co-stars are paying tribute to the late actor after his death.

McMahon, who’s best known for his roles in “Nip/Tuck,” “Charmed” and “Fantastic Four,” died at age 56 after battling cancer. Per Deadline, he died July 2 in Clearwater, Florida.

His wife, Kelly McMahon, confirmed his death in a statement obtained by NBC News, which read in part, “With an open heart, I wish to share with the world that my beloved husband, Julian McMahon, died peacefully this week after a valiant effort to overcome cancer.”

“Julian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work, and he loved his fans,” the statement continued. “His deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible.”

On social media, McMahon’s former co-stars shared touching tributes to the late actor, including the cast of “Charmed.” On the show, which ran from 1998 to 2006, McMahon portrayed the character Cole Turner, the ex-husband of Alyssa Milano’s character Phoebe Halliwell.

Milano shared a series of photos on Instagram posing with McMahon over the years, including several snaps of the duo from the series. In the caption, the actor wrote that she was “heartbroken” by his death, calling him “magic.”

“That smile. That laugh. That talent. That presence. He walked into a room and lit it up—not just with charisma, but with kindness. With mischief. With soulful understanding,” she continued in the caption. “We spent years together on Charmed—years of scenes, stories, and so many in-between moments. He made me feel safe as an actor. Seen as a woman. He challenged me, teased me, supported me.”

Milano described McMahon as “more than my TV husband,” calling him a “dear friend.” She also shared a message to the women in his life, adding, “He adored them. You could feel it in every conversation, every story, every text. He was a family man above all, and he loved deeply.”

“Losing him feels unreal. Too soon. Too unfair,” Milano concluded her tribute. “Rest, my friend. I’ll carry your laugh with me.”

Holly Marie Combs, who portrayed Piper Halliwell on “Charmed,” posted a photo montage on Instagram that featured pictures with McMahon throughout his time on the series.

“One of a kind is an understatement,” she wrote in the caption. “Your unyielding zest for life and crazy making sense of humor will be sorely missed. The joy and laughter you were the direct cause of will always be remembered. I hope you find our lady friend and dance in those rose petals.”

Rose McGowan, who played Paige Matthews on the show, also paid tribute to McMahon on social media, sharing a photo of the actor on her Instagram story.

“oh Julian you force of brilliance, wild talent and humour,” McGowan wrote alongside the picture. “For you, your family and loving fans all over the world, I pray comfort.”

In another Instagram story, she re-shared a post from former co-star Brian Krause remembering McMahon.

“Charmed family loves you,” she added to the re-post.

Krause, who played the character Leo Wyatt, wrote on Instagram that it was a “sad day for our Charmed family.”

“Julian was one of the funniest, devilishly handsome and kind souls!” Krause added. “Prayers to his family and close friends! He will surely be missed!”

McMahon also received sweet messages from his “Fantastic Four” co-stars, including Ioan Gruffudd, who played Mister Fantastic in the superhero film.

“This is terribly sad news about Julian,” Gruffudd wrote on Instagram. “Even though we played each other’s nemeses, there was always so much lightness and laughter working together. Every encounter with him was a joy. It was an honor to be Dr. Richards to his Dr. Doom. My heart goes out to his wife and family.”

Michael Chiklis, who played The Thing in the movie, also shared a tribute to his late co-star, posting a photo on Instagram featuring McMahon and Jessica Alba.

“I’m devastated to hear of the passing of my friend Julian,” Chiklis penned in the caption. “Life is so precious and fragile. My condolences to his family. RIP Jules.”

In recent years, McMahon also starred in shows including “FBI: Most Wanted” and Netflix’s “The Residence.”

Uzo Aduba, who starred alongside McMahon on the streaming series and in “The Supremes at Earl’s All-You-Can-Eat,” shared a heartfelt message about her late co-star on Instagram.

“Julian McMahon. I had the pleasure of working with you not once, but twice in a single year,” she wrote in the caption, before calling the actor “cool, calm, collected.”

Aduba added, “So excited and genuinely happy when you learned I was going to get to be a mama, and understood why I had been picking your brain for parenting guidance.”

“Such a talent, but also just so much love for life,” she continued. “Energy. Intelligence. Sending all of my love to those who worked with, knew, and loved Julian. May you rest in perfect peace, with confidence it was a race well run.”
