Alyssa Milano and ‘Charmed’ Cast Pen Emotional Tributes to Julian McMahon

Julian McMahonโ€™s former co-stars are paying tribute to the late actor after his death.

McMahon, whoโ€™s best known for his roles in โ€œNip/Tuck,โ€ โ€œCharmedโ€ and โ€œFantastic Four,โ€ died at age 56 after battling cancer. Per Deadline, he died July 2 in Clearwater, Florida.

His wife, Kelly McMahon, confirmed his death in a statement obtained by NBC News, which read in part, โ€œWith an open heart, I wish to share with the world that my beloved husband, Julian McMahon, died peacefully this week after a valiant effort to overcome cancer.โ€

โ€œJulian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his work, and he loved his fans,โ€ the statement continued. โ€œHis deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible.โ€

On social media, McMahonโ€™s former co-stars shared touching tributes to the late actor, including the cast of โ€œCharmed.โ€ On the show, which ran from 1998 to 2006, McMahon portrayed the character Cole Turner, the ex-husband of Alyssa Milanoโ€™s character Phoebe Halliwell.

Milano shared a series of photos on Instagram posing with McMahon over the years, including several snaps of the duo from the series. In the caption, the actor wrote that she was โ€œheartbrokenโ€ by his death, calling him โ€œmagic.โ€

โ€œThat smile. That laugh. That talent. That presence. He walked into a room and lit it upโ€”not just with charisma, but with kindness. With mischief. With soulful understanding,โ€ she continued in the caption. โ€œWe spent years together on Charmedโ€”years of scenes, stories, and so many in-between moments. He made me feel safe as an actor. Seen as a woman. He challenged me, teased me, supported me.โ€

Milano described McMahon as โ€œmore than my TV husband,โ€ calling him a โ€œdear friend.โ€ She also shared a message to the women in his life, adding, โ€œHe adored them. You could feel it in every conversation, every story, every text. He was a family man above all, and he loved deeply.โ€

โ€œLosing him feels unreal. Too soon. Too unfair,โ€ Milano concluded her tribute. โ€œRest, my friend. Iโ€™ll carry your laugh with me.โ€

Holly Marie Combs, who portrayed Piper Halliwell on โ€œCharmed,โ€ posted a photo montage on Instagram that featured pictures with McMahon throughout his time on the series.

โ€œOne of a kind is an understatement,โ€ she wrote in the caption. โ€œYour unyielding zest for life and crazy making sense of humor will be sorely missed. The joy and laughter you were the direct cause of will always be remembered. I hope you find our lady friend and dance in those rose petals.โ€

Rose McGowan, who played Paige Matthews on the show, also paid tribute to McMahon on social media, sharing a photo of the actor on her Instagram story.

โ€œoh Julian you force of brilliance, wild talent and humour,โ€ McGowan wrote alongside the picture. โ€œFor you, your family and loving fans all over the world, I pray comfort.โ€

McMahon also received sweet messages from his โ€œFantastic Fourโ€ co-stars, including Ioan Gruffudd, who played Mister Fantastic in the superhero film.

โ€œThis is terribly sad news about Julian,โ€ Gruffudd wrote on Instagram. โ€œEven though we played each otherโ€™s nemeses, there was always so much lightness and laughter working together. Every encounter with him was a joy. It was an honor to be Dr. Richards to his Dr. Doom. My heart goes out to his wife and family.โ€

Michael Chiklis, who played The Thing in the movie, also shared a tribute to his late co-star, posting a photo on Instagram featuring McMahon and Jessica Alba.

โ€œIโ€™m devastated to hear of the passing of my friend Julian,โ€ Chiklis penned in the caption. โ€œLife is so precious and fragile. My condolences to his family. RIP Jules.โ€

In recent years, McMahon also starred in shows including โ€œFBI: Most Wantedโ€ and Netflixโ€™s โ€œThe Residence.โ€

Uzo Aduba, who starred alongside McMahon on the streaming series and in โ€œThe Supremes at Earlโ€™s All-You-Can-Eat,โ€ shared a heartfelt message about her late co-star on Instagram.

โ€œJulian McMahon. I had the pleasure of working with you not once, but twice in a single year,โ€ she wrote in the caption, before calling the actor โ€œcool, calm, collected.โ€

Aduba added, โ€œSo excited and genuinely happy when you learned I was going to get to be a mama, and understood why I had been picking your brain for parenting guidance.โ€

โ€œSuch a talent, but also just so much love for life,โ€ she continued. โ€œEnergy. Intelligence. Sending all of my love to those who worked with, knew, and loved Julian. May you rest in perfect peace, with confidence it was a race well run.โ€
