Kelly Clarkson’s Las Vegas residency didn’t kick off as planned.
Less than two hours before she was set to take the stage at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on July 4, Clarkson announced to fans that she was postponing the start of her residency because of vocal issues.
“We have been working 24/7 to make Studio Sessions the most intimate and extraordinary experience with and for my incredible fans,” she said in a message on Instagram. “I am beyond grateful that you always show up for me and I am devastated to have to postpone tonight and tomorrow’s opening at Caesars.”
“The prep and rehearsals have taken a toll on my voice. I want the shows to be perfect for y’all and I need to protect myself from doing serious damage so I am taking this weekend and next week to rest up so that we can deliver what you all deserve,” she continued.
After reassuring her fans that she’d be ready to hit the stage after the short break to rest, Clarkson then teased the Vegas show, calling it “truly incredible.”
“The musicians and singers are outstanding, and I want us all to start out strong. I can’t wait to be back next weekend and show y’all what we’ve been working on,” she said.
The official account for Caesar’s Palace and The Colosseum also shared the news of Clarkson’s Vegas shows cancellation, informing ticket holders that they could choose to be refunded or catch another one of her shows.
“Ticketholders will receive information from Ticketmaster and can either request a refund or keep their tickets as we reschedule this weekend’s performances,” the statement read on Instagram.
“We are confident that when she’s recovered, fans will experience an incredible, intimate performance from one of this generation’s leading voices” they added.
According Clarkson’s website, the singer’s next scheduled show in Vegas will be on July 11. After that, she’ll be doing 15 more shows before the last one takes place on Nov. 15.
Online, the daytime TV host received a lot of support from her fans, even though some said they were disappointed by the last-minute cancellation.
“When you ACTUALLY sing live, you are allowed this grace. Rest that incredible instrument ❤️,” one person commented on her post.
Another said, “Ughhhh I was so excited for opening night. We were ALL so excited waiting in line all day.I hope you feel better. ❤️🩹.”
A third added, “Flew in from NY for both opening weekend shows. Devastated doesn’t cut it but your health has to come first. Get well soon Kelly♥️.”
