Charlotte opens applications for 2025 Creative Growth Grants

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The city of Charlotte is opening up applications for public funding for arts and culture.

The 2025 Creative Growth Grants —  administered by the nonprofit Charlotte Is Creative — are aimed at giving resources to local creatives, celebrating culture, and lifting up artists and art organizations in Mecklenburg County.

“These grants are reflective of the city’s ongoing and eager support of Charlotte’s creative community,” Charlotte Mayor Vi Lyles said. “We are committed to strengthening our arts and culture ecosystem and fueling the creativity that exists in every corner of the Queen City.”

There are three types of grants available as part of the initiative, from  $2,500 to $25,000. Charlotte area creatives including visual artists, poets, spoken word artists, dancers, musicians, storytellers, theatrical producers, textile artists, and beyond are encouraged to apply.

In order to be chosen for a grant, the projects will need to align with the Charlotte Arts and Culture Plan accepted by the Charlotte City Council in 2023 and focus on strengthening community engagement and equity.

The city is accepting applications from Thursday, June 19, through Monday, Aug. 4, at 5 p.m.
