When it comes to social outings and double dates that last a little too long, Jenna Bush Hager and Leslie Bibb have the perfect trick.
The topic came up during the June 16 episode of TODAY with Jenna & Friends, while Jenna and her guest co-host were discussing Brad Pitt and Bradley Cooper’s recent double date with their significant others.
“Do you like a double date?” Bibb asked Jenna.
“I like a double date with people that are like family. What about you?” Jenna responded.
Bibb said she does enjoy a double date but sometimes worries if they’ll go well when she and her partner, Sam Rockwell, are venturing out with a new couple.
“And then you never know because then sometimes it can be like you need a safe word to get out of it,” the actor explained.
Jenna then revealed that she and Bibb, as well as their significant others, share the same “safe word” for getting out of a social event.
“Coconut,” Bibb said, adding that she and Rockwell also use the word “Oklahoma” to signal to each other that they’re ready to leave an event.
“Mine is just ‘coconut,’ but I cant believe we have that (same word),” Jenna said.
Bibb went on to clarify that she and Rockwell don’t just use their safe word to “get out of things,” and Jenna agreed.
“No, we’re saying like if we’re at a party and we’re exhausted, I’ll be like, ‘Henry, coconut.’ And most of the time he’s like, ‘You want a drink?'” she said of her husband, Henry Hager.
“Coconut margarita!” Bibb chimed in.
“He doesn’t quite understand,” Jenna said.
“Oh my God, he’s such an angel,” Bibb replied.
The “White Lotus” star returned to Studio 1A on June 16 to co-host TODAY with Jenna & Friends after appearing on the show in March when Henry was co-hosting.
During Bibb’s appearance, Jenna asked her about her bob haircut, calling it a “cultural moment.”
“I did a little thing in the mirror where I’m like, ‘I’m getting a bob,'” Jenna said. “I’m getting a bob based only on you.”
“I think you should,” Bibb replied.
When the actor returned to co-host the show on June 16, Jenna actually went through with the idea and enlisted the help of celebrity hairstylist Chris McMillan to make it happen.
At the end of the show, Jenna teased that the results would be unveiled the next day when Bibb returns to co-host once again.
“Thank God, because I’m going to need her,” Jenna joked.
