Fortune 500 company to build 0 million plant in Shelby, create 110 new jobs



PPG will invest $380 million in Cleveland County, marking the return of the PPG brand to Shelby, where it first established a facility in the 1950s.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. โ€” Gov. Josh Stein announced that global supplier PPG will create over 100 new jobs in Shelby as part of a major investment in Cleveland County.ย 

Stein said PPG will invest $380 million to establish a new manufacturing center, marking the return of the PPG brand to Shelby, where it first established a facility in the 1950s.ย 

โ€œPPG knows what I know: North Carolina is the No. 1 state for manufacturing in the Southeast,” Stein said in a press release. “Our stateโ€™s workforce is our greatest asset, and I will continue to advocate for more training and education programs so that employees can build a career and employers have the well-trained people they need to get to work.โ€

PPG supplies paints, coatings and specialty materials used in numerous industries. Stein’s office said the average salary for the new jobs will be $66,861, nearly $20,000 higher than the average wage in Cleveland County.ย
